Heel Pain Update - Fasciitis or Not Fasciitis? That is the
Question.

Many people have a painful heel at some time or another.
Frequently they are diagnosed with fasciitis. (You might like to
read this brief heel pain case study.)
However there are other conditions that can occur in the heel
that have similar symptoms to fasciitis or are present at the
same time as fasciitis. This is why sometimes treatment for
fasciitis does not provide relief for your painful heel.
The longer heel pain is present, the more other areas of the
heel become painful and inflamed from trying to walk to avoid
the pain.
For example John (not his real name) had heel pain diagnosed
as fasciitis for months, and despite various types of treatment
from various health professionals, he did not have any relief
from his symptoms.
When John came to see us at Instep Podiatry Brisbane we found
that there were no fasciitis symptoms at all. His previous
treatment had most likely worked to remove the fasciitis, but
why then did John not feel that his foot was any better?
We found another condition in his heel that was the main
problem, and with a special support made for the condition he
was able to walk pain free.
With over 30 years experience we have successfully diagnosed
and treated many cases of heel pain by carefully identifying the
cause of the heel pain and then providing the appropriate
treatment.
