Instep Podiatry Brisbane - What do we do?

Having 30 years experience in Podiatry, Craig Hodson-Cornford is well versed in all aspects of podiatric conditions. Walking problems and running problems can be corrected with various types of inserts including custom made in-shoe devices (orthoses).

Posture and gait are closely linked therefore correction of foot position can significantly reduce degeneration in mal-aligned joints and help reduce pain.

Craig has a special interest in musculoskeletal podiatry and has had great success in treating painful conditions that have become chronic and difficult to treat. In these conditions temporary diagnostic padding is used to ease the person into their treatment to minimise problems and to decide if orthoses will help.

General podiatry such as corns, callus and toenail care are also provided at the clinic.

Special Feature

Orthotic Questionnaire

Orthotics are a common and necessary part of good foot health in today's society.

You can use this orthotic check list to see if you are getting the most out of your
orthotic and your foot function.

Latest News

Instep Podiatry now has a third clinic at Albany Creek Physiotherapy and Sports Injuries Centre at 640 Albany Creek Road, Albany Creek. Craig Hodson-Cornford is working with Rob Thams and his team of sports physiotherapists to bring you after hours consultations to help solve your lower limb sporting problems.

Biomechanical assessments, gait analysis and orthotics are used to reduce excessive stress on the lower limb to improve foot function. Referral to Sports Physicians, Physiotherapists and other allied health professionals are made as appropriate.

The Albany Creek Physiotherapy and Sports Injuries Centre team includes a Sports Masseur, four Sports Physiotherapists and Craig Hodson-Cornford. Together we can make a difference.

This is a Clinical Biomechanics and Sports Diagnostic Clinic only, so if there are any general podiatric problems, these should still be referred to our clinic at Mitchelton or at Teachers Health in the Fortitude Valley. Appointments are available on Thursday afternoons and evenings. Phone 3264 3244.

More Information About Our Services

Diabetes and other medical conditions:

It is important that the treating podiatrist is made aware of any medical conditions that may affect your treatment. All diabetic patients should have an annual review of their feet. Once this is done, a copy is sent to their medical practitioner and/or specialist to advise on the situation.

We liaise with many specialists such as Rheumatologists, Endocrinologists and Physiotherapists to ensure that you obtain the best holistic treatment available.

Children:

Children are not just little adults and must be treated as a separate entity. Craig has dealt extensively with children's gait abnormalities and continues to update his knowledge in this very specific field.

Gait Analysis:

Understanding how walking affects the body has been the priority of Podiatrists for years. Watching carefully as a person walks / runs can give invaluable information as to where problems may occur. Observing footwear patterns on shoes is also very useful.

General Podiatry:

All of our instruments are sterilised and logged on the premises. Corns, callus, ingrown toe nails and other skin problems are dealt with in the best possible manner.

Diagnosing the reason for such skin abnormalities will endeavour to stop the reoccurrence of them. This may involve change of footwear, orthotics or padding.

Reflexology:

Carmen Stout has returned from the UK where she had a busy reflexology practice and is now at Instep Podiatry Brisbane.

Reflexology is a treatment to the feet for the therapeutic effect. It is a form of natural holistic therapy based on the belief that there is an energy system which connects points on the feet and hands to organs, systems and structures within the body.

Stress and poor lifestyle create blocks in this energy system resulting in a lack of balance in the body.
Reflexology is a gentle and non invasive way of detecting imbalances in a person. Reflexing these areas will help the body to restore balance and improve health and well being.

It is a wonderful technique to bring about relaxation and revitalisation on all levels of mind, body and spirit.
